Bariatric Surgery
There are some types of surgical procedures to treat obesity. The objective of each is to make
the patient lose weight.
-LAP BAND: It's a procedure where a ring is placed around the stomach to diminish the
capacity to hold food.
-GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY / VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY: In this surgical procedure, the
stomach is cut in a vertical way to diminish the size and make the patient feel full.
-GASTRIC BYPASS: This procedure has part of the stomach cut and the small intestine cut to
diminish the capacity to absorb nutrients.
